Camping With 40+ Kids

My daughter whom is 5 yrs old is enrolled into an Expeditionary Learning School.
Definition: Lots of field trips to make learning fun.

Between the two K-1 classes there are about 46 kids 6 and under and all the parents and adults that go with them.

This Thursday were all headed out for our first school camp trip at a local campground to learn about the "Water Shed" is that two words or one?

Apparently I love to camp but will this be fun or will it be absolutely too much for the Camping In Style 45 year old Mom who likes her glass of red at the end of the day in peace and quiet.

We shall see wont we.............................. post to fallow with how it all turned out.

RV Cooking Show Shares White Bean Pesto Dip Recipe

If you're anything like me, you want to hold on to summertime as long as you can. It's this time of year that gardens are lush with the last of the year's fresh produce and basil plants everywhere are working overtime. To help you take advantage of the summer's bounty and offer you a quick and delicious dish to bring to any gathering, I'm tickled to share this episode of the RV Cooking Show - White Bean Pesto Dip and Pine Acres Family Camping, MA.

We stop and visit with Jeff Howard of Linabella's Gourmet Garlic Farm (an awesome pesto master) then spend some quality time with Denise Packard making this party pleaser for their park's 50th Anniversary celebration - Pine Acres Family Campground in Oakham, MA.

Lookin' good? Learn more about the Oakham-area and print this recipe (plus a good RV recipe for pesto) at the RV Cooking Show website.

Summer’s fleeting…take advantage of every opportunity to Go Camping America, meet and make friends, share stories and delicious dishes…RV life has it's rewards!

Kids Hiking Story

I remember hiking a simple hike in Yosemite. I stopped to take a rest and a drink of water. Up came an enthusiastic man who was probably newly married to the woman behind him who was dragging her young (10yr old) daughter behind her who was complaining that she didn't want to hike anymore, she was tiered etc.... The woman belted out to her daughter "your going to hike and your going to like it!"

I sat front row of this display and thought so many thoughts. First being that it was a sure thing that that girl was not going to "like" it and probably not her new stepfather either for that matter.

Children though naturals to the outdoors are not always into the hiking in the same "get it done" manor that we adults can be. A pic nic, magnifying glass and shorter hikes may be all they are up to? So stop and smell the roses and remember to read your child's body language. Incorporate other activities, make the journey shorter or the destination fun and enticing.

I would never tell my five year old were hiking, I just say were checking something out or exploring and begin walking. Stopping along the way with a pad of paper to draw what we see, take notes and a camera.

What are your thoughts

Weather Autumn camping

http://www.naturedetectives.org.uk/download/autumn/
Check this link, it's fantastic for Autumn activities.

26.9.2010 - 3rd day of bright morning sunshine -
peeking through the dense canopy of trees on this particular pitch "Blue Moon".

More reasons to camp in Autumn:- Abundant brambles free to pick.
Camp fires to compensate for the earlier darkness at night.
Wood kits still at this season's silly price.
Concessions for 2 nights or more.
More freebies from http://www.event-catering-healthy-choices.blogspot.com/
(Their bottled water, surplus cabbages, carton drinks,
out of date packets of crunchy hoop things.
Plastic bottles of passion fruit juice.
now finished for the time being.)

Fridge freezer will still be stocked for another few weeks,
as we're still getting bookings into October.
So you'll always be able to cobble a camp fire meal together
if you forget anything or are too pushed for shopping beforehand.
When the fridge freezer is off out of season, there will still be packet/tin food, drink in the cupboard.
You can also ask at the hatch to see if there's other food in our stock
(often got freezer stuff like bread, sausages, etc.)
