a birdy project

Sometimes I have the best job! A few weeks ago I got to follow Kaja&Sara when they prepared for a workshop with the famous japanese designer Taku Satoh. The theme was "coincidence", and the task was to make a word and then let nature interfere. Quite the opposite from this project about the art of clean up: Stacking and sorting everyday objects.

Kaja&Sara chose to spell their word with bird seeds and let the doves do the trick afterwords.

For the class exhibition at the end of the workshop, Kaja&Sara presented these five photos, printed on glass:

everything waits

Borghild er en veldig god venninne og tilfeldigvis også min favorittkunstner. Akkurat nå stiller hun ut på SOFT Galleri i Oslo. 

Utstillingen Alt venter er en hyllest til det underlige, det lekne, til naturen, til kroppen, og til minnene, men mest av alt til det paradoksale i livet; til det som ikke er enten eller, men som er begge deler.

Borghild is a very good friend of mine, and she happens to be my favourite artist as well. Her exhibition Everything waits is a tribute to the weird, the playful, to nature, to the body, and to the memories, but most of all to the paradoxes in life; to what is not neither - nor, but both.

Hurra for Ida!

Not only is it Ida Noemi's birthday, she has also been selected to participate at 100% Norway! I am so proud of you, Ida!



The exhibition takes place at 100% Design during the London Design Festival, 22 - 25 September 2011.

About Mind the Gap:

The furniture Mind the Gap are a part of her diploma «Meaningful Embraces with Objects», a discursive diploma looking at the emotional side of design. The diploma is inspired by the fact that emotionally neutral objects do not exist, and that today we search for objects that are not only functional, but also inspiring. We fill our homes with furniture and things we love, and objects that say something about who we are.



The entrance is the first room you enter in a home, and the last room you leave. You never spend time there, yet you always pass by – a transitional moment of extreme stress or ultimate relief. The furniture Mind the Gap comment on this two-sidedness of the entrance: As a charge/relief station, the console and the stool function as storage furniture for must haves, a place to get armed or disarmed.

About Story:

The lamp is telling a story about the Norwegian traditions and way of living, the contrast between the cold winter weather and warm clothing and homes. Story draws inspiration from melting icicles and the warm light shining through the windows of our cabins in the mountains, it sheds a new light upon traditional Norwegian knitting patterns and gives a new and softer expression to the cold and hard porcelain surface.
